"FACE THE MUSIC" SINGS UP A STORM IN EXCITING ABC INITIATIVE
The Arbour ‘Face the Music’ Choir is a group of 15-20 Residents who join together to sing in The Enclave Theatre every Tuesday. Resident and choir co-organiser Barbara Davis says, ‘we are there because we love to sing, and just love the feeling that music gives us’. Most recently, Merrin Ross, pianist and conductor has been preparing a few of the ensemble to participate in the ABC Classic Community Choir. Russell Torrance from ABC Classic FM, and Clarence Slockee from the ABC Gardening Show, have written new lyrics incorporating vocabulary from various Aboriginal languages to the tune of ‘O Christmas Tree’. After learning the new lyrics, chorus and harmonies the chorus were filmed and the video sent to the ABC, where it will join the hundreds of other choirs from around the country in a wonderful musical mosaic. This extravaganza will premiere on Gardening Australia’s special Christmas episode on 16 December 2022. Barbara adds, ‘although none of us claims to be a wonderful singer, we are thoroughly enjoying ourselves!’. The Arbour Choir is co-managed by Residents Barbara Davis and Maggie Lanham.
