Ingrid and John, formerly from Caringbah in Sydney are patiently awaiting construction of their new home in the final stage at The Arbour.

Ingrid, a former partner in an engineering firm and bookkeeper while John a business owner have decided Berry and specifically The Arbour is for them. In reality they are getting the best of two worlds, close to Sydney (direct train service) and day to day in a relaxed coastal/country town. Ingrid has two daughters here while John had been to Berry only a handful of times and loves the village atmosphere and connection to nature-particularly the diversity of birdlife.

A move to Berry looked imminent for John when recalling a 1-hour trip for only 2km in Sydney traffic.

John wanted to express his appreciation of how an insightful first tour made him realise what living at The Arbour could be. It was as simple as walking into a home experiencing the passive solar design for a naturally moderated temperature and the abundance of natural light from the high window line that John was immediately impressed. For Ingrid, a woman for detail, the condition of the facilities and homes indicated a well-managed facility. For both Ingrid and John, the resort style pool was a standout first impression. They are also intending to book The Enclave (free) to use for family functions with commercial kitchen and seating for approx. 150 with bi folding doors which connect to the water feature courtyard.

Since moving into a very rare temporary rental at The Arbour, Ingrid and John have met many residents. After being welcome into many homes the permission to individualise and personalise a home has impressed them-not usually granted to retirement village occupants.

Only recently Ingrid has decided to join a small paint/draw/chat group in The Arbour having last picked up a paint brush in her early 20’s. John, a keen billiards player has split the table on a few occasions but both really enjoy the informal drinks catch up on a Friday.

John recalls some of the excitement and anticipation with the construction of their new home - like the feelings in 1975 when building his own home.
